Hi. Could you explain the process to hopefully get onto the new RotR Star Wars ride? Also for Galaxy’s Edge. We will be there next month and want to experience both if possible. I understand there are no fast passes for these? Thanks!

    Hi, Lisa!

Thanks for sending your question to us at Disney Parks Moms Panel!

You are going to be truly amazed by the scale and detail of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, an All-New Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Prepare to spend a day that's filled with fun and The Force!

You are correct that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is not included in the FastPass+ system, so joining a Boarding Group is the only way to help The Resistance in their fight against The First Order. As for entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, you may explore the Land at your leisure--no FastPass+ or reservation is required.

In order to join a Boarding Group, get to the park early. This attraction is very popular, so some Guests have been arriving at Disney's Hollywood Studios over an hour prior to Park Open.  (My family and I included.) In recent weeks, Guests have been allowed to enter the park about 30 minutes before Park Open, and may advance as far as Center Stage on Hollywood Boulevard. Once the park opens, refresh your My Disney Experience mobile app, and click on "Find Out More" on the home page where you see Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance--Access by Boarding Group. Next, if there are remaining Boarding Groups for the day, you may click "Join Boarding Group". At that point, select everyone in your party (all must have entered the park by this time) and submit.

Before that, link everyone in your party to your My Disney Experience account, much like if you were making FastPass+ plans for them. While multiple Guests can attempt to secure a Boarding Group for everyone, be sure to have only one person submit so that you may all get into the same Boarding Group and ride together.

Keep an eye on that same page you used to join; this is where the range of Boarding Groups will be posted throughout the day, so you'll be able to keep track of how rapidly those numbers are advancing. Once your Boarding Group is added to the list of those invited to enter the attraction, you'll have up to two hours to do so.

If you'd like to try Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, keep an eye on your My Disney Experience mobile app, as you can check the wait time for this super-fun experience right there.

You are in for a day that is truly out of this Galaxy, Lisa! Have so much fun planning!

Be sure to send us more questions as you think of them, too. We love to help!
