Hello! Can you explain how the genie + works? Is it multiple uses in one day just one reservation at a time? Or is it only able to be used once a day? Like are we able to plan out where it can be used once per ride, by chance? Thank you! -Felicia

    Hi Felicia,

    Welcome to planDisney!

I’d be more than happy to walk you through Disney Genie+ Service! First you want to ensure you have a My Disney Experience mobile app account. This is the primary source for Disney Genie+ and will help you as you’re moving in and around the Theme Parks.

Once you have your Theme Park tickets linked in My Disney Experience and have secured your Disney Park Pass reservations; the next step will be adding Disney Genie+ for you and your party. Now, if you haven’t purchased your tickets already, there is an option to purchase your Theme Park tickets and Genie+ for every day of your ticket. This is just one option, if you don’t want to have Genie+ every day, you also have the option to purchase for a specific day within My Disney Experience.

The next step after tickets is to add Disney Genie+ for one day. From the My Disney Experience mobile app home screen, you’ll select the three horizontal lines in the right-hand corner, then select “My Genie Day”. Next in the purple area, you’ll select “Get Disney Genie+ for Today”and then “Get Disney Genie+ service”, finally follow the steps to purchase the service. Remember, you can purchase the service on the day you'd like to use it, but you want to do it before 7 a.m. so you're ready for the next step!

At 7 a.m. on the day you have Disney Genie+, you’ll be able to make your first Lightning Lane selection, which allows you to select your ride time ahead of time. After your first Lightning Lane selection is used within a Theme Park, you can open up Disney Genie and select your next Lightning Lane. You can continue the cycle throughout the day as long as the Lightning Lane selections are available. If you have the Park Hopper option with your Theme Park ticket, you can choose a Lightning Lane in a different Theme Park, but keep in mind you won’t be able to select another Lightning Lane until you’ve used the one in your account. You can enter an attraction's Lightning Lane once, if you'd like to re-ride that day, the next time will be through the standby line.

As you’re planning, please keep in mind that there are Lightning Lane options included with Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes that are also available for purchase in addition to Genie+. You’ll want to check out both options here as you’re preparing for your vacation!

I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is helpful as the excitement builds for your next Walt Disney World vacation. If you have any other planning or vacation questions, please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help!
