Hi, can you explain the difference between a Resort hotel package and a room only reservation? Is there a benefit to one over the other? Thanks, Laura

Hi Laura, and welcome to planDisney! We're so glad you stopped by, and we’re always here to lend a helping hand in planning your magical Walt Disney World vacation.

When it comes to reserving the magic, there are a couple of options depending on your vacation needs.

    Room-Only Reservation
A room-only reservation is the perfect choice for guests looking to enjoy the magic of a Walt Disney World Resort stay without visiting the theme parks.

    Here’s how it works:
Guests pay the cost of one night’s room rate as a deposit, with the remaining balance due on the check-in date.
This option is ideal for families who want to explore dining options at the resorts, enjoy the lively atmosphere of Disney Springs, or make a splash at water parks like Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. A room-only reservation works well if you plan to visit a theme park for just a single day or focus on other experiences Disney has to offer.

    Walt Disney World Resort Package
For those seeking the all-inclusive Disney vacation experience, a resort package is the way to go. A package includes a resort room, theme park tickets for two or more days, and the option to add a Disney Dining Plan, when available. A deposit of $200 is required to secure the reservation, with the balance due 45 days before your arrival. This option is great for guests who want to immerse themselves fully in the magic, combining resort stays, theme park adventures, and delicious dining experiences at the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.

planDisney Pro Tip: Room-only reservations and resort packages can both be customized further. If you start with a room-only reservation but decide later to add theme park tickets or dining, you can often modify your booking by calling Disney or updating through your My Disney Experience account.

No matter how you choose to experience the magic, we’re here to help you every step of the way. If you have more questions or need tips on dining, attractions, or special experiences, don’t hesitate to ask.

    Toodles,
