I am experiencing a significant birthday (my 50th) during my visit to WDW. Does WDW recognize a persons birthday in any way?

    Hi Jeff,

Happy birthday! Walt Disney World is always a magical place to spend a birthday or other occasion, especially when you are reaching a milestone. My husband and I both toasted our 50th birthdays with a weekend at Disney, and that's where we marked our 25th and 30th anniversaries as well. It's our favorite place to celebrate.

Make sure you pick up a free Happy Birthday button at Guest Relations and ask a cast member for a permanent marker to write a big "50" on it. (I bring the buttons home and put them on the bulletin board over my desk to remind me of all the occasions we've spent at Walt Disney World). When you wear the button, cast members and other guests know to wish you well.

And frequently, especially when you are celebrating a particularly big day, you'll find a little extra magic directed your way. At our 30th anniversary dinner at Flying Fish, we discovered that the couple at the table next to us also was celebrating 30 years together. Our server brought each couple a complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert.

On my 50th birthday, the Raglan Road bartender added candles to the bread & butter pudding I was enjoying at the bar. Our daughters have gotten sprinkled with glitter, serenaded, high-fived and treated to cupcakes on a number of birthday visits.

But hey Jeff, you're 50! What better opportunity to treat yourself to something special like a massage at Senses Spa, a behind-the-scenes tour like Keys to the Kingdom, an over-the-top brunch at California Grill or a relaxing day in a cabana at your resort pool.

Do what makes you happy, whether it's a four-parks-in-a-day adventure to ride every roller coaster or a leisurely stroll around the World Showcase sipping and savoring tastes from around the globe. Whatever you choose, I'm hoping you'll find some extra magic along the way.

Wishing you a delightful celebration of this milestone and many, many more to come. Enjoy!
