Ahoy there, Jamarius!
Welcome aboard planDisney! I love this question because the Disney Wish is packed with so many things to do that carving out a little solo time onboard can turn into its own adventure. The Wish is one of those ships where you can easily bounce between relaxing, exploring, snacking, and entertainment without ever feeling like you’re wandering around alone.
One of my favorite solo escapes onboard is
Senses Spa. As husbands, we usually think about booking spa treatments for our wives, but I’m telling you, a massage or some quiet time in the Rainforest Room can completely transform your day faster than Maui discovering he’s finally got his fish hook back. Heated loungers, whirlpool spas, saunas, and ocean views? That’s a pretty solid upgrade from everyday life. If the Rainforest Room interests you, I’d recommend stopping by Senses Spa on embarkation day because passes can sell out faster than Pua running toward food.
Another great solo activity is making your own way through the lounges around the ship. The Wish has some incredibly themed spaces, and I’ve had a lot of fun grabbing an adult beverage or mocktail while just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. One of my favorite spots is
The Bayou. Between the lanterns, the live jazz music, and the New Orleans-inspired details, it’s the kind of place where you half expect Tiana and Louis to stroll in at any moment while the smell of fresh beignets drifts through the air. It’s a perfect place to slow down for a bit and enjoy the vibe onboard.
If your perfect vacation moment includes sports, snacks, and relaxing for a bit,
Keg & Compass is a fantastic stop too. I’ve spent time there watching games, chatting with Cast Members, and enjoying the Pub Grub menu while the rest of my crew tackled the AquaMouse. Sometimes those slower moments become some of the best parts of the cruise.
One thing I always recommend is taking some time to simply wander the Wish. Seriously. The ship is immaculate, and there are so many details hidden throughout the artwork, stairwells, and public spaces. Can you find all of Cinderella’s mice pals?
And definitely keep an eye on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. There is constantly something happening onboard. Trivia, game shows, silent DJ parties, drawing classes, tastings, live music, movies, and more. One of the best parts about doing some of these activities solo is you can jump into whatever sounds fun without needing to coordinate plans with the whole crew.
If you happen to have a stateroom with a verandah, stepping out first thing in the morning while the rest of your crew is still asleep is one of the best ways to start the day in total tranquility as you watch the sunrise over the ocean. There is something especially peaceful about those early moments when the ship is quiet and the day is just beginning to wake up around you. If you’re a coffee person, you can order a complimentary carafe of coffee from Room Service and enjoy it right out on your verandah while you take it all in.
I hope this helps as you
start planning your solo adventures aboard the Wish! Whether you’re relaxing in the spa, exploring the lounges, catching a movie under the stars, or simply enjoying some peaceful ocean views, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your own little slice of Disney magic onboard.
Sea ya real soon with warm air, calm seas, and a ship that always feels like home,
Dustin
