We have experience passes, do these give each family member 2 rides in the lightning lane per day? Or 2 rides total? I just added a day to my trip and the cast member told me it would be per day, can I request it be extended for the 3rd day?

Kimberly! As a fellow North Carolinian it is my pleasure to welcome you to planDisney! Your trip is soon approaching, and it sounds like you're mapping out your Lightning Lane strategy. On a recent trip to Disneyland I saw how effective using Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be, and my fellow panelist Olivier is basically a Jedi on the app. As his young Padawan, "much learning I did," and now I'm ready to help you use The Force to ensure planning your vacation doesn't become a phantom menace.

I have received a Multiple Experience Pass (MEP) in the past when I had a Lightning Lane reservation for an attraction that became temporarily unavailable. The details for the pass were available for me to review in the My Disney Experience app, and the pass will typically be eligible for attractions in the same tier as the experience you had originally booked. I had one MEP for each person in my party who was booked for the attraction, and we could choose to use them all together on a different attraction or split into groups and use it how we saw fit. It gave us a lot of flexibility!

I also spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed that MEPs can be given to guests as they are exiting the attraction if they are on a ride that experiences technical difficulties. In my experience these were one time use passes for an attraction, so I recommend asking a Cast Member about the passes you have, who in your party is eligible to use them, and how long they will be available.

If your upcoming stay is at a Disney Resort Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, or Shades of Green Resort, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass 7 days ahead of time and plan for your entire stay, up to 14 days! If you've added a day to your trip, you will be able to add another day of Lightning Lane Multi Pass as well. Just make sure everyone has park admission and a reservation (if required). Remember, Lightning Lane Multi Pass will allow you to choose up to 3 experiences ahead of time. You can book additional experiences on a rolling basis (subject to availability) after you redeem your first pass. You can even book another experience at a different park if you have Park Hopper tickets!

You and your party can build a wish list of attractions in the My Disney Experience app and you can book for your entire party when your eligibility window opens before your visit. Skipping those standby lines with a good Lightning Lane strategy will free up time to do even more activities, like trading pins, nibbling on a Mickey-shaped snack, sipping a refreshing beverage, and taking in the wonderful sights and sounds of the parks.

Kimberly, I hope this answers your question about your passes and Lightning Lanes! If you think of another question, or if I didn't quite get you the answer you were seeking, please visit us again here at planDisney so we can lend a hand. See you real soon!

    Stay magical,
    Scott
