Bonjour Marine, it's so wonderful to see you here at planDisney!
As one of our
International Disney Parks specialists here at planDisney, it's always intriguing to compare between the theme parks all over the world - especially through the perspective of a couple looking for a place where we can feel included and safe to be who we are and love who we love.
Disneyland Paris currently recognizes Pride Month in a way that goes beyond the merchandise and snacks that you'd find at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort (though separately-ticketed
Pride Nite events at Disneyland After Dark is definitely a more recent step in the North American theme parks)!
I love that Disneyland Paris is a place where couples like us and all kinds of families can feel not only
welcome and included, but celebrated. It was the first-ever Disney Destination around the world to officially sponsor and host Pride events back in 2019 and we were so delighted to see a daytime parade in one of the Disney Parks with its own signature music as guests and Cast Members alike danced along amid a flurry of rainbows and support. On the Disneyland Paris website they very clearly state that they are
open to same-sex marriages, saying “Disneyland Paris is the place for all love.”
This year
on June 29, 2024 there were a number of Disneyland Paris Pride events and offerings for guests to take part in, as the
Disneyland Paris Ambassadors made their way down Main Street, U.S.A. flanked by Cast Members waving flags and Disney Character pals like Mickey & Minnie in rainbow outfits. Though Cast Members have been a part of
parades here in the United States, these have been external to the theme parks and it would be great to see something like this that guests can be included in as well - to stand alongside them and feel that same joy and support.
But even outside of Pride Month, the experiences my husband and I have shared as a couple have certainly made us feel very comfortable at Disneyland Paris and a big reason why we began
planning a Vow Renewal here with their incredible team. In more recent years, I’ve certainly noticed more and more couples like us feeling safe to hold hands or show affection in a way that most heterosexual couples might never have to feel worried about; there are more frequent examples of all kinds of loving families that would have meant the world to me seeing that as a young LGBTQ+ child.
I hope that you both get a chance to experience the magic of Disneyland Paris, feeling just as safe, represented and even celebrated on your next adventure!
After all, it wouldn’t be called the City of Love if it wasn’t a place for all of our Happily Ever Afters.
Wishing you both the most amazing and romantic visit!
