Want to experience the Christmas Magic next year at WDW. How soon are the decorations up at the resorts and at MK? We are thinking of coming the 1st weekend in Nov and we're told the MVMCP starts right after halloween. Is that correct?

    Sharon:

Our family has visited Disney for Halloween and the week after many times, including this past fall. Although there can be a slight variation in the schedule, we have found that the fall harvest decorations that fill the theme parks and cover the resorts are taken down almost overnight after Halloween, especially in the theme parks. The week between Halloween and the first weekend of November sees the parks transition from fall to Christmas--and we love being able to experience both.

The first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party falls typically on the first Friday of November unless it's early in the month (like the 1st or 2nd), and the Magic Kingdom will be fully decorated for it, except for its Christmas tree which usually goes up after the taping of the Disney Christmas parade the first weekend of December. The resorts will make a slower transition from fall to winter decor as they construct the Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian and significant displays at the Contemporary, Boardwalk Inn, and Beach Club resorts. However, if you arrive the first weekend of November, you should be able to get the opportunity to see them toward the end of your vacation.

Keep an eye on both the Special Event Tickets link on the www.disneyworld.com website along with the Disney World Parks blog around late Spring for the announcement about next year's party information. Last year, the blog released information by mid-May.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
