Is there any way to get expedited help for my son-in-law, diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma, and appendicitis last week. His family will be there Wed. 8/3. He's suffering and and won't ask for special help for himself or his family. Please help.

Hi there, Richard! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. You are a very thoughtful father-in-law to be thinking about how to make your son-in-law’s trip comfortable and enjoyable with his family, given the circumstances with his health.

Richard, given their trip is around the corner, the best suggestion I can offer is to strongly encourage them to visit Guest Services upon arrival. The closest location upon entry to the parks is City Hall at Disneyland Park and Chamber of Commerce at Disney California Adventure Park. There is a program called Disability Access Service (DAS) which is designed to support Guests who have difficulty waiting in queues for extended periods of time. DAS is well used and loved by the Guests who need it. Ask them to inquire about eligibility for DAS. If they feel any hesitation in asking for help, please reassure them this program exists for a reason - to accommodate Guests when they need help and to make the Disney Parks experience magical for all. It doesn't hurt to ask about DAS; if they are ineligible, Guest Services will let them know and offer other options that might help them during their visit.

Another option would be to add Disney Genie+ to their day (if they didn’t add it at time of ticket purchase) which provides access to Lightning Lanes. These are faster queues available for many of the major attractions. The current price of Genie+ is $20 per day per ticket (subject to change.) My family and I were at the parks yesterday, and with access to Lightning Lanes, the longest we waited for any attraction was 10 minutes, when the standby queue was anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. It is truly worth it, especially when the weather is hot. If you would like to surprise them and treat them to Genie+, you could consider purchasing a Disney Gift Card online, which they can apply towards the purchase of Genie+ once they arrive. Genie+ can be added in the Disneyland mobile app, under My Genie Day.

I am so sorry that your son-in-law’s health is a struggle right now. I am sending lots of positive thoughts for his recovery and well-being. I hope he and his family can be touched by the magic of Disneyland Resort and fill their hearts with lifelong memories.
