We expect to arrive Fri. 12/26 w/ 7 day park hoppers. Expect it will be 6pm before getting into Magic Kingdom. Should we wait & do something e.g., Downtown Disney, & then use ticket for day Fri 1/2, that day having to leave at 5. Thanks

    Hello Carrie,

Planning your first and last day at Walt Disney World definitely revolves around when you happily arrive to your Walt Disney World Resort and when you sadly must depart. I, also, feel like it depends if your family is one that likes to hit the ground running and Go! Go! Go! or if your family is more laid back and prefers the slower pace.

If your family is the Go! Go! Go!, I recommend heading straight to Magic Kingdom park on your first day. At the moment, Magic Kingdom park is open December 26, 2014 from 9:00am - 12:00am, with Extra Magic Hours from 8:00am - 9:00am and 12:00am - 2:00am, if you are a Walt Disney World Resort Guest. Keep in mind Extra Magic Hours are subject to change, so be sure to confirms these hours. Spend the end of your first day enjoying your first magical moments at Magic Kingdom Park. On your final day, sleep in, make an advance dining reservation at a non-theme park table service restaurant, finish your time shopping at Downtown Disney or enjoy some pool time at your Walt Disney World Resort before boarding Disney's Magical Express.

If your family enjoys the slower pace, I recommend on your first day, exploring your Walt Disney World Resort, making an advance dining reservation at a non-theme park table service restaurant and if you are up to it enjoy the shopping at Downtown Disney before turning in for the evening so you are well rested for the next day. On your final day, check your luggage at Bell Service, and head to your Walt Disney World theme park of choice for the day. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to return for the Disney Magical Express.

If I can be of any further pixie dusted assistance feel free to ask and enjoy your upcoming stay at Walt Disney World, may it be filled with many magical and memorable moments.
