Hi Dan,
It's nice to see you stopping by planDisney with a question! As much as I love to encourage independence with our girls, I would only recommend setting up a separate account with
My Disney Experience for a teenager under the age of 18 if they are going to visit the Walt Disney World Resort without you. One of our girls went on a trip with Special Olympics a few years ago so we had her create her own account. If you have existing travel plans, dining reservations, etc. and you create the new account, I suggest
calling to speak with a cast member in Website Support to get assistance. They can make sure the correct profile is attached to all of your existing reservations.
My husband had a separate account as well and it created confusion, so we called to have that one cancelled/deactivated. I manage his plans and plans for our other daughter. If you continue to manage your son's plans, just remember to stop by the front desk of your resort hotel to grant him charging privileges when you arrive. My family is perfectly happy for me to manage all of the plans and, in my experience, having one person manage the plans just cuts down on possible confusion.
In looking at your arrival date, I can imagine the countdown in your household! Be sure to make a few advanced dining reservations and consider booking a special experience from the
Enchanting Extras Collection. Just check the
reservation window guidelines!
Dan, I am sending a little extra pixie dust trusting that you will make the best decision for your family about your son's account. I do have one final tip! Be sure to review the details about
Lightning Lane passes and then map out your park strategy to experience attractions!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
