I have an excursion booked on the Stavanger day of an upcoming cruise, the ship is docking a distance away from the actual town and I wondered if there was any shuttle transport available if you just wanted to visit Stavanger without taking a guided tour?

    Ahoy there, Roger!

Your upcoming itinerary is giving me some serious wanderlust! I think a visit to Norway is on my must-do list. I did a bit of digging and found that if you’ll be docking at the Port of Mekjarvik, you can use public bus transportation or a taxi to visit Stavanger.

While onboard the ship, there are a few great sources for more information about your Port of Call. You may stop by the Guest Services Desk and ask the Crew Members there about the transportation to the port. In many cases, there are complimentary shuttles, and the Guest Services team will be well aware of what you can expect when you disembark for the day.

Another great source of information will be your Cruise Director. You can tune in every day for a special message from your Cruise Director on channel one of your stateroom TV. I like to listen to this each morning as I prepare for the day. They’ll be reminding you of special port information, the day’s events, and the ever-important “all aboard” time.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy your upcoming holiday, Roger. While onboard the Disney Dream, keep an eye out for the brand-new Mickey’s Color Spin Dance Party. It’s exclusive to the Disney Dream European sailings and will feature Mickey, Minnie, and many of their favorite friends. Be sure to check it out if you like to bust a move!

    Have a lovely sailing,
