Hi!! We are very excited to be visiting Magic Kingdom in March. We have a 6 and a 4 year old so will have utilize the rider swap for some of the rides. How does rider swap work with Genie + LL and individual LLs? Can we do rider swap on Mine Train? Thanks!

Hi there, Jennifer, and welcome back to planDisney!

Rider Switch is hands down my family’s favorite option at Walt Disney World Resort. As a fellow mom of two young children, I could not imagine a trip without using it.

Before getting in line, ask a Cast Member (usually someone holding a tablet) near the entrance of the attraction to scan the tickets or MagicBands of the two family members who will ride the second go-around. (Yep, this means that one of your kiddos will get to ride twice if they’d like to! Oh yeah!) One reason why my husband and I love Rider Switch so much is that we can combine it with our Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane purchases. Instead of the first party needing to wait in the standby queue, if all riders have Lightning Lane access, both parties get the fast track! This is definitely the most efficient way to use the Rider Switch system.

Seven Dwarves Mine Train is one of the several attractions that utilize the Rider Switch service. It has a 38-inch minimum height requirement. (This reminds me: My younger son can now ride it, so that’s definitely on our list for our next visit.) The ride vehicle has a slight side-to-side rocking motion, and the dips and hills are not as intense as the wild Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. So, if both of your kiddos are tall enough, you may be surprised that they’ll both be up for the adventure into Snow White’s world!

AN EXTRA GEM: While your child is in the Lightning Lane queue for Seven Dwarves Mine Train, this is the perfect time for your other child and an adult to explore the nearby Storybook Circus area in Fantasyland. I know that you already have Pete’s Silly Sideshow on your agenda, but how about letting your preschooler get the wiggles out inside Dumbo the Flying Elephant’s indoor play area? It is beautifully themed, air-conditioned, and so much fun! My boys could spend an eternity in there!

Jennifer, if you have any further questions about how to maximize your time at The Most Magical Place on Earth with little ones, please don’t hesitate to give me a holler here at planDisney!

    Magic always,
