Hi Magally!
Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.
October is a great time to visit Walt Disney World. The weather should be cooler and less humid than the hot summer months in Florida. I wrote "should" because there can still be some hot days in October. However, generally it is less humid. You should definitely reserve some time for enjoying your hotel pool or for visiting one of the fantastic water parks at Walt Disney World. I have two boys, ages 12 and 8, and visiting Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach is a must for them on every trip!
The first thing to do is to pick a hotel. Disney has many wonderful hotels to chose from. Disney hotels are broken down into distinct classes based on cost per night, services and amenities, location, theming, etc:
- Disney Deluxe Villas
- Disney Deluxe Resorts
- Disney Moderate Resorts
- Disney Value Resorts
My favorite Deluxe Resort is the Wilderness Lodge, followed closely by the Beach Club. My favorite Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside, and my favorite Disney Value Resort is Pop Century. However, I have never visited the new Art of Animation Resort, which is a value resort. From the concept art and photographs I have seen, that resort looks amazing, so it might be my new favorite Value Resort after I stay there.
After you have selected a resort, you should develop a basic plan for your trip such as in what parks you might visit on which days. Then you can make Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE. They are critical if you want to visit any of the Table Service restaurants at Walt Disney World and then can be made 180 days in advance.
Our responses are limited in length, but I would be happy to help you more. Just write back with more questions!
