Ahoy, Jimi! The line where the sky meets the sea calls you, too? It won't be long before you start your adventure beyond the reef. I feel your excitement!
In just a few days, you'll hear that magical "Welcome Aboard" as you cross the threshold for your
Disney Cruise Line vacation. I'm so glad you cruised by planDisney so we can provide information on the last items on your packing list.
First up, electric toothbrushes. I love mine and take it with me on my travels. I always keep it on the charger at home, which is great because it has a full battery when I pack it. It can make it the entire length of a cruise without recharging. You should be safe to pack it and the charging cable, just in case the battery needs a little extra juice. I looked at the
list of prohibited items - Appliances, Electrical Items and Electronics - just to make sure. Electric toothbrushes are not listed. Small personal electronic devices, like electric shavers and curling irons, are shown as OK to bring. If your toothbrush is like mine, the outlets should be able to handle it without issue.
Next stop on our journey: ear covers. I spent several years working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on early hearing loss, so my appreciation for protecting your little Mouseketeer's ears runs deep. I have not seen anything listed that would prohibit you from bringing ear protection for your youngest. If you are concerned about loud noises, you may also want to review the
Information for Guests with Disabilities or Medical Conditions for insight into the Mandatory Guest Assembly Drill on page 13. Blasts from the ship's horn are part of the drill, which can be loud depending on where your Muster Station is.
That guide also has information that can help with your question about over-the-counter medications. Page 8 explains you can bring them. They should be in their original packaging and your carry-on bag (not your checked luggage) when you board the ship. If you forget something, you can usually purchase some over-the-counter medications, like ibuprofen and Dramamine, on board.
You do not need to pack towels. Towels are provided by all the pools. And if you go on a
Port Adventure that includes a beach or other water-filled day of fun, you can pick up towels to take with you. When you check in for your Port Adventure, they should be available. If you are heading to
Castaway Cay, towels are usually available right off the ship before you head to the tram or walkway. There will be bins to return the towels as you board the ship.
Jimi, I hope this covers the questions you have about packing. You can also check out the
Disney Cruise Line packing list to make sure you have thought of everything. If you have any other questions, swim back by
planDisney. We're here to help!
