Hi, we're so excited to be taking our twin 4 year old girls to Disney World at the end of February! They don't know we're going yet. Do you recommend we tell them in advance or surprise them the morning we leave?

    Hi Emilie!

My 3-year old son and I really enjoy the excitement of counting down the number of sleeps until our trip, but there is also something so magical about that moment when your children hear the news that they are going to go meet Mickey. So I would recommend doing both! A few days before your trip, surprise your girls with a countdown calendar to count the number of days until they will get a big surprise. Every day have them open a little package that contains a supply they will need for the trip, such as new flip flops for the warm weather, a new swim suit, sunglasses, or even a princess dress to wear at Magic Kingdom. Your family can make a big deal about opening every package and guessing what will be at the end of the rainbow. On the morning of your trip, they can open their last package to discover their surprise!

Come back and see us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have any more questions getting ready for your trip!

Hi! I’m Crystal and I’m a wife and mommy to three little Mouseketeers. My husband and I have been enjoying Disney Parks since before we were married, and now we take our children to see Mickey and the gang as often as we can, while  managing my oldest son's food allergies. Planning is key for my family to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun trip to our favorite place and it can be just as exciting as the trip itself. I can’t wait to help you plan your next adventure there, too! Learn More About Crystal
