I am excited to be taking my first disney cruise to celebrate my college graduation. I am wondering if you are able to take a DCL bus from a resort if you are not staying there or from MCO even if you flew in days before?

Ahoy there, Caitlin. I can already tell you have a bright future ahead of you because you asked such a great question of us here at planDisney, so I’m thrilled to help you answer it. And as the mom of two college students, I’d also like to congratulate you on this HUGE milestone in your life!

I cannot think of a better way to celebrate graduating from college than with a Disney Cruise! I’m happy to confirm that yes, you can use Disney Ground Transportation from either the Walt Disney World Resort or from the Orlando International Airport to Port Canaveral and back.

If you booked your cruise reservation through Disney Cruise Line directly, you can add round-trip shuttle service to and from Orlando International Airport online by clicking on the transportation link located on your cruise reservation, by chatting online at DisneyCruise.com, or by calling a friendly Disney Cruise Line Cast Member.

I actually chatted with a Disney Cruise representative to confirm that to be picked up or dropped off at the Walt Disney World Resort, you would need to reserve that service by calling or chatting online with a Cast Member. Now, if you booked your cruise reservation through a travel agency or Disney Vacation Club, then you will need to contact them to add the ground transfers.

For my family, our Disney Cruise vacation begins the moment we step on those buses to the port. If I were traveling with you, I’d want to make sure you were celebrated in the best Disney way possible, so make sure to stop by Guest Services once onboard to pick up a complimentary celebration pin. I would also tell your Lead Server about your accomplishment (or have someone else in your travel party brag on you) so you can celebrate with a special sweet treat or maybe even a song. Even better, you can go online and fill out a Special Request Form to notify the Cast Members about your special occasion. You never know what kind of Pixie Dust you’ll find sprinkled into your voyage.

Finally, if a friend or family member wants to make sure you have something special in your stateroom to commemorate your achievement, you can point them to Onboard Gifts. There you’ll find everything from celebratory food and drinks to stateroom decor.

My oldest will also be graduating from college later this year and I was just looking at when finals ended to see when we could celebrate with her on a cruise as well. Thanks to you, my mind is now swirling with fresh new ideas to commemorate this momentous occasion. Caitlin, on behalf of all of us here at planDisney, let me again send you a jolly CONGRATULATIONS cheer! And if you think of any other questions before your trip, I hope you’ll sail back our way.

    Embrace the magic,
    Sami
