We are very excited about taking the Disney Cruise this coming May! We have 2 teenagers, ages 16 (boy) and 17(girl). Our only concern is that they won't have enough to do because of their ages. Has anyone taken teenagers on the cruise before? Thanks!

My son is a tween but I spoke with teens aboard the Disney Magic. They indicated that the cruise was not just for young children and provided many activities for teens. They seemed pleasantly surprised!

The Youth Activities Manager explained to me that they empower teens to make their own activity schedule. On the first night of the cruise, teens help make the activity schedule that will be posted for their age group that week. Popular activities include Gender Wars, scavenger hunts, etc.

Teens have their own hang-out called Aloft on the Disney Wonder and the Stack on the Disney Magic. While adults may stop in to communicate with their children, it is strictly a teens only environment complete with games, video games, flat screen TVs and cozy conversational areas. On Castaway Cay, teens also have their own beach where activities include volleyball at the nearby Sports Beach and Survivor-type events such as Float Your Boat where teens make their own rafts. The teen beach is also a place to lounge under a palm tree and catch that much needed afternoon nap.

In addition, teens will find activities throughout the ship such as an arcade, Sports Deck, swimming, movie theater and an Internet lounge.

Teens have the independence to participate in activities, lounge by the pool, attend a show or join in a “Glow Jam” dance party.

Teens may envision having to hang out with Disney characters but they'll find instead a shipload of activities with their own peeps.
