I am excited to start planning my son's first trip to Disney! We were planning on going next fall, when he would be 18 months old, but we are getting anxious to go sooner! Would it be a good idea to go in May, when he's 13 months old, for his first time?

    Hi Kristen!

How exciting to be planning your son's first trip to Walt Disney World!

In my personal opinion, it's almost never too early to take your child to Walt Disney World.  Even though he may not remember too much on this first trip, YOU will, and you will have a blast making all of these magical memories with him.  You will treasure this experience for a lifetime, and what's more, you will get to experience the magic of Disney through a child's eyes again.  Pure Pixie Dust!

We took both of our sons for their first trips at the age of 7 months.  We tried our best to stick to their routines, such as nap & feeding times, and we knew by following our parental instincts (you know your child best!) when it was best to just "chill" and relax, instead of trying to push it to the limit.

There are wonderful Baby Care Centers in each park, where you can change diapers, take time out to feed them in high chairs, and even nurse and rock them to sleep.  I really enjoyed the times I spent in these, and count them as part of those "magical memories"!

Trust your own instincts as you make these plans.  You know your child best, and if YOU are ready to get started on your family's Disney scrapbook, then by all means, go ahead and go for it!

Take lots of pictures and videos so you can show him his first trip one day in the future.  He will think you are simply the coolest mom in the world for taking him as a BABY!!!  I wish you all the best, and am truly excited for you all!
