Hiya Kay - welcome back to
planDisney!
I'm glad to see you back with another question for our team of panelists. We love helping Guests just like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort vacations!
I'm so excited to hEAR that you have an upcoming trip planned for next month! You're visiting during the
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary, full of exciting new attractions, entertainment, food and so much more - get ready to make some magical memories!
The special tours available at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park are some of the most unique and magical experiences available at Walt Disney World Resort. I recently experienced the
Wild Africa Trek and it is probably one of the best days I've ever spent at a Walt Disney World Theme Park! While similar to the Wild Africa Trek,
Savor the Savanna focuses a little bit more on food and drink and takes it a bit lighter on adventure. This is great for Guests who want to enjoy more of the Africa-inspired food and drink, or for those Guests who might not be up for some of the more grueling parts of the Trek - like walking on a rope bridge over a bask of crocodiles. And yes, I learned that a group of crocodiles is called a bask on the Trek!
While there is a trained Disney Photopass Photographer with your group for the entirety of the Wild Africa Trek, for Savor the Savanna, you will likely only have a photographer available at the Boma - the savanna oasis where you'll be savoring all the delectable bites and sips! This is actually the most picturesque spot on the entire savanna, and in the event that a dedicated photographer is not available, your Cast Member tour guide will be more than happy to assist you in getting perfect photos of your crew with the nearby animals and scenery. I wish I could show you some of the pictures I took myself from the Boma - it was so incredible!
When you check in for your tour, I suggest asking a Cast Member if a photographer will be available for your group at the Boma. If not, you might decide to bring your own higher-end camera with you instead of relying on your smartphone. That being said, smartphone cameras have come a long way, and the pictures I took with mine are phenomenal - it's really hard not to take great photos in such a beautiful place! All that being said, if having professional quality photos from your
entire tour is very important to you, you might want to consider switching to the Wild Africa Trek.
I hope this information helps as you continue planning for your upcoming vacation -
please let me know if I can help answer any additional questions!
