I am excited to run in my first Disney race (PHM)! I have purchased Platinum ChEAR packages for my husband and 2-year-old daughter. Suggestions on what time they should get to the ChEAR tents? How should they travel from one tent to another during my run?

    Hi, Janet!

You must be getting excited for Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend! It's hard to believe it's almost here. I hope your training is going well and you are ready for this weekend fit for a princess.

Purchasing the Platinum ChEAR Squad package for your husband and daughter was an excellent idea! As far as the "tents", there is only one large tent they will have access to- the Race Retreat tent. Spectators with the Platinum ChEAR Squad package will have access to the race retreat beginning at 6:00am on race morning. In addition, your package will allow your family access to the reserved grandstand seating at the finish-line on a first come, first served basis (this area is not tented). One of the best advantages of your package choice is if inclement weather should occur, your husband and daughter will be able to wait in the race retreat tent in the comfort of a climate-controlled environment complete with live video feed of the finish-line and a Kiddie Corner for your daughter to enjoy.

Traveling between the reserved seating at the finish-line and the Race Retreat tent in the Family Reunion Area will be done on foot and will take about five minutes. Based on my experience with the race retreat and with traveling to a race with young children, my advice is once you cross the finish-line, have your husband head to the entrance of the race retreat and meet him there. You should arrive at about the same time once you've received your medal, walked through the runner's chute and then have walked over to the race retreat. Lastly, to ensure your family gets a great seat in the grandstands at the finish-line, I suggest they arrive as early as possible! They will be able to access this area 15 minutes prior to the start of the race. I hope this information helps you, Janet. Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have.

    Have a great race!
