Amy:
With an evening open, your plan to stay and enjoy your resort would be the better choice than that of the
Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show.
Animal Kingdom Lodge has so much to offer!
I'd make an early dinner reservation at
Sanaa. Located in the lodge's twin, Animal Kingdom Villas, the restaurant offers table-side views of the Savannah and the animals, providing a memorable experience for your child. The kid's menu is a notch above others, in my opinion, with a broad appeal for picky eaters. Getting a reservation before sunset is my preference, but there will be lights on outside if you arrive after dark to see the animals. You can walk between the resorts, but it's quite a walk. Check with the cast members in the porte cochere for their courtesy transportation between the resorts.
The resort's pools are impressive and you'll be given a resort guide with daily activities in which to participate. To me, there seem to be more resort activities at Animal Kingdom Lodge than at other Disney resorts, but times and activities vary, so look for it in your welcome packet when you arrive.
Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
