Hi! So excited for our first visit in just a few weeks with our 4, 6, and 9 year old. Our first night we have an ADR at Chef Mickey's at 8 pm. Suggestions on how to get there from PO-riverside? We are not visiting the parks our first day. Any tips?

Hello Amanda!  Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  Your children are at the perfect ages to visit Walt Disney World, I am so excited for you.

Getting to Chef Mickey's from your resort will be easy peasy.  Simply hop on the bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom.  From there, you can easily walk to Disney's Contemporary Resort.  If you want to experience a monorail ride, once you get off of the bus at Magic Kingdom head to the Monorail boarding area which is also a short walk.  Once at the monorail, hop on and ride it till you reach Disney's Contemporary Resort, which is the first stop after the Magic Kingdom.  My daughter always like riding on the monorail!

We never visit the Park the first day we are at Walt Disney World.  We like to unpack our things and explore the resort.  My daughter loves swimming and after a long day of travel, it is a great way to unwind.  If we have time before dinner, we like to head over to Downtown Disney to walk around and look through the shops.  If it is close to lunch time we always grab a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich, which I highly recommend.  Don't let the long line stop you from eating there, it moves quickly and it is busy for a reason!  If it isn't lunch time, we will grab a sweet treat at Goofy's Candy Company instead. The selection of treats is incredible and my daughter loves the make your own option. (Side note, if you visit Downtown Disney before your dinner, you can just hop on the bus going to Disney's Contemporary Resort from there.)  Then, like you, we have a nice dinner at one of the resort restaurants and after that we head to bed early to gear up for a nice long day at the park the next day.

It sounds like your vacation is going to kick off to a great start.  If you have any other questions before you leave, please feel free to ask me another question.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
