So excited for our first trip! Staying off site-driving to Epcot for the day-have dinner reservations at chef mickey...can we ride the monorail to our reservations, then back to Epcot? How much time should we allow to get to dinner? Whats the cost? Thanks

    Hi Stephanie!

I am excited for you and your first trip to Disney World! Be sure to stop by a Guest Relations location and request "1st Visit" buttons for each of you.

We have often stayed at non-Disney Resorts or with family in Orlando. You do not have to be a Disney World Resort Hotel Guest to take advantage of most Disney Transportation at Walt Disney World. The exception to this is Disney's Magical Express Service which provides complimentary transportation to Disney's Resort Hotel Guests to and from the Orlando International Airport.

All Disney World Guests, including non-resort hotel Guests are welcome to use the Monorails, Disney buses, boat launches and ferry boats at no charge. So feel free to climb aboard, relax and leave the driving to the friendly Cast Members at Disney World.

Just to be safe, I'd allow myself at least an hour before my dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's to travel from Epcot to the Contemporary Resort. You may have to wait a few minutes on a monorail to arrive. The Monorail ride from Epcot to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) is around 10 - 12 minutes. From there, you'll need to transfer to the Resort Monorail line. To do this, go down the ramp and walk to the other end of the Monorail Station (the end towards the Ferry Boat Dock - you'll see the signs).

Leaving the TTC, the Resort Monorail makes stops at the Polynesian Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and Magic Kingdom (in that order) before reaching the Contemporary Resort. You should plan to arrive at Chef Mickey's 15 minutes prior to your reservation to check in.

Another option is taking a bus from Epcot to the Contemporary Resort. I'd still allow myself an hour to be safe. You can always explore the Contemporary Resort if you have any extra time.

Please feel free to visit with all of your planning questions. Its our pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
