Hi Leslie,
The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival has something for everyone, even non-gardeners like me. The topiaries and the special floral displays make Epcot so beautiful during that time, maybe even prettier than Christmas. You'll find home and garden demonstrations from stars of HGTV, among others. And the free Flower Power
Concert Series features bands from the '60s and '70s.
Many details are yet to come, but Walt Disney World has announced the Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be featured in the showcase topiary.
The food Marketplaces, new in 2013, were a terrific addition to the festival in my opinion. There aren't as many of the kiosks as at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, but the concept is similar. Each marketplace has a different theme and offers tasting-sized portions of food and drink. The food samples, with a few exceptions, cost about $4 to $6 each. Many can be purchased with Disney Dining Plan snack credits.
I particularly liked the food at the Florida Fresh, Lotus House and Smokehouse marketplaces last year. I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement of the fare for this year.
You might want to keep an eye on the
Flower and Garden Festival page on the Disney website or on the
Disney Parks Blog. Details about the performers, demonstrations, Marketplaces and other special events during the festival should be posted there soon.
Enjoy the festival and your entire visit to the Walt Disney World resort. Please let us know if we can answer any more questions for you as you make your final plans.
