HI! Very excited about my family's upcoming trip July 1st-7th...it's a family trip including my kids (2 and 6), my husband, grandparents and aunts. I am a little worried about the heat and the crowds during this time. Ang suggestions?

    Hi Shari,

You are right to be concerned about the heat in Florida during the summer.  It is brutal, but you can do a few things to make those wait times on line a bit easier.

Keep yourselves hydrated!  Drink a lot of water, and give in to the kids when they want ice pops.  Wear sunscreen and lightweight clothing.  Don't forget sunglasses and hats for everyone.  Take bathroom breaks just to wash your faces.  This is a lifesaver.  Believe it or not, a lot of people I've spoken to don't even think of this!  You can purchase water bottles that have fans attached to them inside the parks and spray yourselves with cool water all day long.  At this time of year, no one in a line who catches a bit of that spray EVER complains.

Among my family and friends I'm famous for this suggestion.  I wet, roll up and freeze wash cloths the night before.  I pack them in ziploc bags, and take them into the park with small ice packs.  They are the best thing ever for cleaning up while cooling down.

Remember, you can always take quick air conditioning breaks in shops.  Take advantage of that.  If you can, go back to your resort at midday and go back later in the evening.  Also, bring a change of clothing for the kids.  If they are anything like mine were, they get cranky and sweaty, but they always got better after cleaning up and changing into a fresh set of clothing.  Something simple...tshirt and shorts.

You are going to have a wonderful time at Disney.  I hope these suggestions help!
