Hi there! I am so excited to be booking our first Disney Cruise for Jan 2015 on the Disney Fantasy!!!!! And I was wondering about the Meal Sitting times. I have a 6 yr old & 8 yr old and was wondering if the Main seating or the second seating is best

    Hi Jen -

Thank you very much for visiting the Moms Panel with your question. It is absolutely an honor to share this experience with you and your family, as you plan your very first magical voyage. The excitement will continue as you take the necessary steps to complete your Online Check In, and as you progress to completing your list of activities. There is so much to do and so much to see!

The choice between the 2 dining schedules is a matter of preference for you and your family. You won't be missing out on anything in the evenings either way. My family is from California and our body clocks adjust well with the late dinner seating. We get to watch the early show first, and then go off to dinner at around 8pm. I know of a few families who have little ones, and they do have a preference to eat during the main seating, since their little ones go to bed early. My kids never go to bed early when on the cruise  :-). There are snacks and munching opportunities throughout the day and in the evenings, just in case anyone in your family needs an in-between meal. I've always found the second dinner seating more leisurely too. The only time that we eat faster than usual, is on Pirate Night - since we like to catch some of the pre-party festivities up on deck and get a spot for the party, immediately after dinner. For the other evenings, we leisurely go all the way to dessert and enjoy our after dinner cup of coffee or tea in a fairly quiet dining room.

You might want to look at your usual dining schedules at home when deciding. That will likely help you figure out which is the best seating schedule for the family. The main seating usually fills up first, as an FYI - so if you think you are leaning more towards eating early, you should go for it. It is much easier to get switched to second seating just in case you change your mind.

I hope this helps. Do let us know if we can help in any other way.
