Hi Julie and welcome back to planDisney! I can just imagine how much cooler you’ll be in summer with a trip to
Walt Disney World! So let’s have you singing along with Olaf and talk about some tips for visiting Walt Disney World
In Summer!
For your first question,
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are usually held on Monday nights at EPCOT and Wednesday nights at Magic Kingdom. However, this is always subject to change and I recommend checking out the
Hours & Events Calendar as you approach your check-in date to see which theme parks are offering extended theme park hours and on which days. If none of the Extended Evening Theme Park Hours coincide with your stay, you may also want to look into
Disney After Hours events as a way to visit the theme parks in the evening to escape the heat and long wait times!
My daughter’s birthday falls in the middle of summer, so I have some firsthand experience with heat at Walt Disney World. Here are some helpful tips. First and foremost, stay hydrated! You can purchase bottles of water from many shops and restaurants and many
quick service dining locations will also offer free cups of ice water. In addition, cooling towels, personal fans, and UV protection umbrellas are also great ways to stay cool and a UV umbrella can serve as a way to both stave off the hot sun and any torrential downpours which frequently occur during Florida summers! Don’t forget to indulge in some Dole Whip or a Mickey ice cream bar to both cool down and satiate your sweet tooth!
Julie, you certainly have it right with taking advantage of extended evening theme park hours. I also suggest going to
Early Theme Park Entry in the morning as well before it gets too hot. My family likes to rope drop in the mornings, return to our
Disney Resort hotel for a pool break, and then head back to the theme parks around sundown as a way to escape the brutal Florida heat. Don’t forget to check out many of the indoor attractions to take some shelter from the sun, relax in an air-conditioned room, and enjoy the entertainment all at the same time. You can plan out some
Lightning Lane Passes in advance to time everything perfectly!
Finally, don’t forget one of the best perks of all occurring this summer:
free water park entry on check-in day! Both
Disney’s Blizzard Beach and
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water parks will be open all summer for you to choose from. Visiting one of the water parks is a great way to make a giant splash on your Disney vacation!
Julie, I hope these tips will have you relaxing in the summer sun letting off steam. If you have any further questions about your upcoming trip, feel free to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
