Hi there Kaitlyn,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your question! I'm thrilled to hear you're planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth after the start of the year - and it's always a pleasure to get to answer a question from a fellow Arizonan.
The
Disney Parks Blog recently announced that the Holiday season will be running from November 15 through January 6 at the Disneyland Resort. If you're hoping to catch
"it's a small world" Holiday then I would recommend trying to sneak a visit in prior to the end of the Holiday season.
However, if you're hoping to visit in January but would prefer to see the original
"it's a small world" attraction then I would recommend booking a trip as late in the month as you're able to manage. Since the planned closure dates have not yet been announced for this attraction to transform back into its original state after the holidays, I, unfortunately, can't share any more specific recommendations than that for now.
If you have some wiggle room in your trip planning and experiencing this attraction is a top priority, then it might be worth waiting for the
Hours & Events Calendar to be updated for the dates of your trip to see if "it's a small world" will be closed for refurbishment or not.
This calendar is released about six weeks out from the current date, so you'd need to wait a few more months to see the January schedule. Waiting this long to start booking your trip certainly has its trade-offs, but I also definitely understand really wanting to experience a particular attraction! If you have flexible visit dates, then this might be something to consider.
Thanks again for your question, Kaitlyn! I hope you enjoy your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
