Hi Antonio! Welcome to planDisney.
I returned yesterday from a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. My family had a wonderful time in our happy place, and I'm happy to report that things felt close to the way they used to. There are still some experiences that are paused as the phased reopening continues, and measures are in place for the health and safety of Guests and Cast Members, but we truly had a BLAST!
For the most up-to-date information on which experiences remain paused, please take a look at the
Returning to a World of Magic guidance. If you scroll to the bottom of that webpage, you will see links to information about the theme parks, resort hotels, dining, and other updated experiences.
Under "
Theme Parks & Tickets," you'll find a list of experiences that are operating in each park. At this time, character experiences are operating differently. Meet and greets with Disney characters are not available, but you will see characters in the parks who are interacting with Guests from a safe distance. We saw Queen Anna having a conversation with a little girl in EPCOT, waved and took selfies with Chip 'n Dale in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park, and we danced with Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto, who were waving and dancing atop the Main Street, U.S.A. train station. There are also character cavalcades in each park; we marched with Toy Story's Green Army Men in Disney's Hollywood Studios and saw Pochahontas and Dino Chip 'n Dale as they floated on boats through the waterways at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was sweet and fun, and we got great photos!
You can also get some fabulous pictures at
character dining experiences. My family LOVED our breakfast at
Chef Mickey's and saw some of the greatest dancing of all time when Goofy started busting a move to some tunes in the restaurant. The characters will pose "with" you from a safe distance so you can snap photos.
Face coverings are required for unvaccinated Guests at indoor attractions as well as on Disney transportation. My youngest is too young to be vaccinated and he wore his mask indoors at all times, as well as when the crowds were heavy outdoors, and he did not complain about it, even in the summer heat. You may see the most up-to-date guidance on face coverings and other safety measures at the Returning to a World of Magic link I shared above.
Having fireworks and nighttime spectaculars back at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT really adds to the magic. I cried happy tears watching Happily Ever After, and the EPCOT Forever show has some breathtaking fireworks displays.
I hope this helps give you a sense of what things are like at Walt Disney World right now, Antonio. Things are always changing, so keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest news, and I recommend following @planDisneyPanel on Instagram. We're sharing our experiences from inside the theme parks and resorts every day! If you have any further questions, please come back and see us - it's a pleasure to help fellow Guests plan their magical vacations.
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Robyn
