Hi everyone, we are surprising our kids with a trip to Disney World. It has been a long time since I have been there, and am feel overwhelmed. Wondering if you have any advice on the best way to start planning our trip. Thank you!

    Hi, Lisa!
What an awesome surprise for the kids!

I have a few phases I work through to make planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort very doable. Maybe my system will work for you.

First I decide on what kind of resort hotel I want to stay in. There are so many choices from the Value, Moderate, and Deluxe options. When my kids were younger, we stayed at Value Resorts. As they've gotten older, we have expanded to Moderate and Deluxe.

Once we've settled on a Disney Resort Hotel, we look at the park schedules for our visit. My husband and I usually decide to visit one park a day and base our decision on which ones have early Extra Magic Hours. We love the parks before most Guests wake up.

After we decide on our park schedule, we can start booking a Table Service restaurant 180 days before we arrive. We like one table service restaurant so we can have a little down time and enjoy some of Disney's delicious food.

Sixty days before we arrive, we can set up our FastPass+ reservations! At that point, our trip is set and we get to count the days until the magic begins!

I hope that eases your mind and you can enjoy the planning process!
