Howdy, Amber! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
The Walt Disney World Resort is so magically accommodating. Traveling with members of my family in wheelchairs at Walt Disney World has been an absolute breeze!
Every Disney Resort hotel has an accessible travel path from your arrival to the lobby, shops, restaurants, pools, exercise rooms, accessible guest rooms, and more. All of the Disney Resort hotels also offer rooms that are accessible for guests with a wide variety of disabilities. You can select “Accessible Rooms” if you book online, or you can
call a friend of Mickey’s for help booking! You should feel comfortable at any of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels!
I do find, however, that some Disney Resort hotels are easier to manage than others. In my experience, The Walt Disney World Monorail has become our greatest ally. With access to Magic Kingdom park, Transportation and Ticket Center (with access to Epcot), and three Resort hotels, the Monorail makes it easy to travel for everyone. The Disney Resort hotels that have access to the Monorail system are
Disney’s Contemporary Resort,
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. All three of these hotels have made transportation simple. I also like these Resorts because the rooms are more spacious, which means you’ve got more room to maneuver and store your souvenirs!
If you’re looking for something a little smaller, I’d highly recommend
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The rooms are spacious and feel luxurious!
Be sure to book your Resort hotel stay in advance, as there are a limited number of accessible rooms at each hotel.
Every Walt Disney World Resort hotel has bus transportation to each of the 4-theme parks, Disney Springs, and the water parks. All buses are equipped to transport guests with wheelchairs and ECVs! Your friendly bus driver will be happy to help your husband board! This is also true with Disney’s Magical Express, with complimentary round-trip transportation between every Walt Disney World Resort hotel and the Orlando International Airport.
Many attractions in the theme parks can accommodate wheelchairs and ECVs! Some attractions require guests to transfer. Visit the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities page for more information concerning attractions.
I hope you and your party find joy, laughter, tasty treats, and a whole lot of magic on your upcoming adventure, Amber! Give a little whistle to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any additional questions you may have!
