Hi Fiona,
Birthday celebrations are extra magical at Walt Disney World, and it is so sweet that you want to plan something special for your mother. We've celebrated many milestone birthdays and anniversaries at Disney, so I have a few ideas that might be just right.
My first thought always goes to an extraordinary meal. For each of our 50th birthdays, my husband and I celebrated with a dinner at
California Grill. I've also heard from friends that the California Grill brunch is not to be missed. Other special occasion spots we recommend include
Jiko, the
Boathouse,
Yachtsman Steakhouse and
Narcoossee's. You can arrange to have a
birthday cake delivered to your table at most table service restaurant, too.
What about a behind-the-scenes tour? I especially love the
Keys to the Kingdom at Magic Kingdom and the
Wild Africa Trek at Animal Kingdom. Because you will be there at the holidays, you might also want to check out the
Yuletide Fantasy tour.
Or what about a new experience? Soar above Disney Springs on the
Aerophile Balloon Flight. Or cruise from the Disney Springs waterfront in a
vintage Amphicar. Or take to the
water to watch fireworks at Magic Kingdom or Epcot.
Or treat your mom to a day of pampering at
Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian.
Or every mom loves family photos. Schedule a
portrait session with Disney Fine Art Photography or one of the new
Capture Your Moment photo sessions with a PhotoPass photographer.
She might also like a
celebratory set of Minnie ears to proclaim her birthday. Of course, you will want to be sure she wears one of the complimentary "Happy Birthday" buttons available at Guest Services at each theme park.
I hope this gives you some ideas to build on as you make plans for her celebration. I'm sure she will have a fabulous time, no matter what you do together. Please let us know, Fiona, if you have any other questions or want more details on any of these suggestions. Enjoy!
Wilma
