Hi everyone! This will be our 1st family visit to WDW on 4/18-4/23. 2 adults & 2 girls (5&3) needing suggestions on how to make the most of our stay.We also want to do 1 day outside of WDW,maybe outlet malls, should we rent a car. Thank you for any

    Hi Doreen,

How excited you must be to be taking your first trip to Walt Disney World in less than two months!  I'm positively giddy for you!

I always advise first-time visitors to Walt Disney World to schedule at least one character dining experience during their stay.  This is such a fun way to meet and interact with the Disney characters.  Be sure to bring an autograph book for each of your girls. I bet they'd enjoy collecting the characters' autographs during your trip.  There are many character dining experiences from which you can choose.  Once you have decided which one looks most appealing, call (407) WDW-DINE to make your advance dining reservations.

Also, be sure to bring strollers for your girls.  First-timers typically underestimate how much walking you'll do during your vacation.  Your girls will be relieved to have a place to sit and rest periodically during your vacation.  It will also save you from having to carry a sleeping child at the end of the day when you are tired too.

For the day you plan to spend away from the Disney parks and resorts, a rental car is a good option.  There are two places from which you can rent cars while staying at Disney; National/Alamo maintain rental counters at the Car Care Center near the Magic Kingdom and at the Dolphin Hotel near Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Let us know, Doreen, if any additional questions come up as you plan for your magical Disney adventure.  Best wishes to your family for a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
