Hey there Christine,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for this question! I love a good Disneyland Resort celebration, and these days it's gotten to be that there is pretty much always something extra fun going on around the Happiest Place on Earth.
During your visit in early May, the parks will still be in the midst of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration. You'll get to experience fun limited-time seasonal events like the
Tapestry of Happiness Projection Show and
Paint the Night Parade in Disneyland Park and
World of Color Happiness! Nighttime Show at Disney California Adventure Park. There are also delicious food and beverage offerings available around the park to celebrate this season, which you can read more about in the
Disney Parks Blog Foodie Guide.
Additionally, the new
Bluey show begins in late March at Fantasyland Theatre, which will be a great option for families.
In terms of other events or potential attraction refurbishments, you'll want to keep an eye on the
Daily Events Calendar. This page has a handy date picker, you can toggle for different areas of the Disneyland Resort, and it will show you park hours, events, shows, and also has an expandable section near the bottom that shows attractions that are planned to be closed for refurbishment. This calendar is available about six weeks out from the current date, so you'll want to check it closer to late March/early April to see the dates of your visit.
Thanks again for stopping by with your question, Christine! I hope you have a wonderful visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
