Are there any events or athletic groups (cheerleading, HS sports) that will be going on the last week of January 2020? It may help determine where we stay. Thanks!

Hey there! Hi there! Ho there Kim! You’re as welcome as can be at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If you are planning a vacation in January to Walt Disney World, be ready to be surrounded by the chEARs of some great athletes! Dance, Cheer, and sports competitions typically take place from early December through May, so more likely than not, you will encounter a few competition groups, but there are plenty of Walt Disney World Resort options for you to have a peaceful stay.

Most of the competitions happen at ESPN Wide World of Sports, and most of the athletes tend to stay in Disney Value Resorts. The most popular Resorts tend to be Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a convention hotel, so it is often used for large groups also.

When you visit next January, plan to stay at either a Moderate Resort or a Deluxe Resort Hotel. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is tranquil and has our family favorite - Nashville Hot Chicken at Boatwright’s Dining Hall. After dinner, walk outside to the Riverside Levee Marina and take a leisurely horse-drawn carriage around the lush Resort property. For an extra-special stay, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is the ultimate tropical oasis and a short Monorail ride from Magic Kingdom Park.

Kim, I hope this helps you plan your accommodations for your upcoming trip. ChEARs to a fabulous vacation!
