Welcome to planDisney! It is never fun to have to cancel plans last minute, especially when they involve a holiday special event. I had an entire vacation planned a couple of years ago that included a special event ticket at the Happiest Place on Earth, and a medical emergency kept me from attending, so I completely understand.
Great question though about what happens if you do need to cancel last minute. First, I do want to point out that tickets for special events, like
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or
Jollywood Nights, are non-refundable and cannot be transferred. So you wouldn’t be able to get a refund, even in an emergency. But here is the thing: the value of your ticket is retained even if it expires. When I spoke to a Cast Member, they told me that you may be able to change your event ticket to another date (if there is availability) over the phone at
Tickets and Hotel Reservations. This also means that you can use it towards a do-over next year if you need it. However, there are two caveats, Sara. First, the ticket must be for the same event. So if your current ticket is for Jollywood Nights, you wouldn’t be able to use the value towards a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Second, if the new ticket costs more than your current ticket, you will need to pay the difference.
