Connor from FL Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Even though some Port Adventures appear to be sold out when I try and book them online, will they save some availability for when we get on the ship?

Ahoy there, Connor, and welcome back to planDisney! So glad to see you off the port bow again!

Ah, the case of the sold-out Port Adventure. Sounds like the Midship Detective Agency should add this to their caseload, but while they're busy tracking down puppies, Muppets and otherwise making use of the magical artwork aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, we can get to the bottom of this one right away!

I'm sorry to hear that the adventures you may have been eyeing seem to be fully booked at the moment. Though it can seem like nearly everything is reserved, I have a few "planDrew-approved" tips to help you get the most out of openings that may arise, especially during what I like to call, "Fellow Castaway Last-Minute Bailout Weeks."

I always like to check for openings every day during the three weeks leading up to the cruise through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app! Since you're within that now, you may start to notice more activities becoming available due to fellow castaways making their final decisions as their plans become more concrete. Whether someone decides they don't want to parasail because they realized how high you go (literally higher than the ships!), or backs out of a wine tasting because they decide they picture themselves falling asleep in front of Funnel Vision, I've usually been able to snag a reservation for something during this time.

Since all Port Adventures and Onboard Fun bookings must be canceled more than three days before your sail date to avoid penalties, the week of your sailing up to those three days is sometimes the best opportunity to jump on a recently-canceled booking by a fellow castaway!

If there is an activity you really want to book - perhaps something like a beverage tasting or adult-exclusive dining - there are certain types of activities that seem to have embarkation day availability, so I like to swing by the lounges, Palo, Remy, or the Port Adventures desk to ask about which activities still have openings. Of course, there are no guarantees, but with a little faith, trust, and pixie dust your wish may just come true!

I hope that helps you set a course for adventure, Connor. Thanks again for sailing my way with another of your questions! If you have any others, we'll be keeping a weather eye open for any messages in bottles you may have cast into the deep here at planDisney!

Fair winds, following seas, and a bit of luck to strike Port Adventure gold!
