Welcome aboard, Linda -
Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel with your question. The Mediterranean Cruise on the Disney Magic is such an awesome itinerary, since it has so many iconic ports to visit. My family and I learned so much on this voyage, and Disney made it so much fun for everyone.
My kids were about 5 & 8 when we visited the Med and a trip to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa when we docked at La Spezia, Italy, was a must for me. We traveled in July and it was very very hot & humid at that time. I confirmed with a cast member at the Disney Cruise Line travel desk, and the port adventure to
Climb the Tower of PIsa, that you're looking at, does have an age restriction and recommends this excursion for families with kids who are at least 8 years old. The age restriction is enforced at the Tower entrance as well. As a safety precaution, children under 8 years old are not allowed to climb the steps up the tower. There is usually a line going up the tower - it has small steps that go around the tower and you've got a set amount of time to be able to make it to the top while following a line of people. I was actually glad that we didn't have to climb the tower - I was fine taking pictures of the tower on the ground, and we had our share of funny poses, as if we were holding the tower up or leaning against it. I thought it was more fun out there - and the PhotoPass photographer usually hangs out around that area to take cool family shots.
I hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any followup questions about this cruise, or if you have other Disney Cruise questions that we can help with.
Bon voyage!
