Ahoy Amy!
So happy to have you back at planDisney with another great question! This means you are really getting into all the details of your Disney Cruise Line vacation. We are thrilled to be able to be your first mate as you captain the cruise planning waters. So let’s get started!
For Port Adventures in the
European ports, you are not required to bring a car seat if a bus ride is the transportation method to your destination. In fact, if you did bring a car seat, you would likely have to carry it because you would most likely not be allowed to leave it on the bus. Almost all excursions use bus transportation, and most parents hold their kids in their laps or let them sit in the seat beside them, secured by the provided seatbelt. To make sure you select a Port Adventure that is
age-appropriate, check the specific
Port Adventure description to make sure it includes ages 0-2.
The only excursions that might actually provide car seats are ones that include a private car. I totally understand how essential a car seat is, especially for a 1 year old! So if you still feel uncomfortable traveling without one, you could check with a third party vendor to book an excursion and ask them about providing a car seat.
Another option would be to make a reservation for your child to stay onboard in the
it’s a small world nursery during your Port Adventures. (Nursery time requires an additional fee and spots do fill quickly, so be sure to make your reservations as soon as your
Advance Booking Window opens.) I understand how you might prefer to have your child with you ashore, but the nursery does give your little one a chance for playtime as you explore the various European ports.
I hope this gives you some options on how best to handle your excursions. Just so you know, Disney Cruise Line does have many other
essential baby items onboard that are available first come first served, including complimentary diaper disposal units, bottle warmers, bottle sterilizers, cribs, and playpens. I would request them as soon as you board the ship at Guest Services (Deck 3, Midship). The less you have to haul with you from England, the better!
Cruise back to planDisney as you finalize your cruise plans. Wishing you a MAGICal vacation and lots of fun as you explore Europe.
Happy Sailing!
