What are the essential documents needed to check children in for cruise?

    Hello, Curt!

Thank you for stopping by planDisney. It looks like it is almost time to start packing for your Disney Cruise at the end of the month! Disney Cruise Line has a helpful packing list to get you started. It even has recommendations for different itineraries!

Documentation requirements for kids (and adults) vary and depend on your ship's itinerary. For example, most cruises to The Bahamas or the Caribbean require United States citizens to provide an original, valid U.S. passport or an original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate (and a physical government-issued photo ID for citizens aged 15 and older). Adults traveling with minors for whom they are not the parent or legal guardian must also have a completed Minor Authorization Form signed by the child's parent(s) or legal guardian. I recommend reviewing the Passports, Visas, & Citizenship Documentation page for information about your specific itinerary. You should also be able to find this information under the "Online Check-In" section under "Already Booked" at the top of the Disney Cruise Line website. Sign in to your MyDisney account and select "My Reservations."

Even though passports are not required for all sailings, I prefer having passports for my kids. In case of an unexpected situation or emergency, it is often easier to fly out of another country with a passport. You probably will not have time to get your kids a passport before your upcoming cruise, but it is helpful information for the future!

First-time Guests sailing aboard the Disney Cruise Line can complete the online check-in process 30 days before their sailing. For Guests who have previously enjoyed a Disney Cruise, the check-in date depends on their Castaway Club membership level. Castaway Club is Disney Cruise Line's loyalty program and offers benefits dependent on the number of sailings they have completed. These benefits often include early booking windows, gifts, or special experiences. It is the perfect excuse to sail on the Disney Cruise Line as many times as possible!

Curt, have a magical time aboard the Disney Cruise Line! We hope to see you real soon!

    Happy sailing!
    Jen
