Is ESPN considered a park? I want to attend the Cheerleading worlds competition for 1 day, but if I already have my ticket for the competition will they let me in or I need a separate ticket to go in? Thank you

Hi there Melodie, welcome back to planDisney! Thank you for reaching out with your question and congratulations to your athlete and their team for qualifying for The Cheerleading Worlds! As a fellow parent with an athlete competing at Summit at Walt Disney World at ESPN, and with several years of experience attending this incredible event, I’m thrilled to help you navigate your question about ticket information.

ESPN Wide World of Sports is not considered a theme park, so standard Disney park tickets do not include admission to the venue. If you did not purchase a Worlds Hotel Package, which includes a Disney Resort Hotel stay along with tickets to the theme parks and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, you would need to purchase a spectator ticket to attend the Cheerleading Worlds competition.

If you already have a ticket to the competition through Varsity, that should include your admission to ESPN Wide World of Sports. However, if you only have a theme park ticket, that will not grant entry to ESPN, and you would still need to purchase a spectator ticket separately. Those tickets are not available yet but will be released closer to the competition.

Spectator tickets typically become available for purchase about a week before the event begins. If your child is competing, you will receive an email from Varsity about a week before the competition with a direct link to purchase tickets. Once tickets for ESPN Wide World of Sports are released, you can visit the events page for more details. Simply scroll through the page, locate The Cheerleading Worlds, and click "Learn More." This will take you to Varsity's Worlds page, where you can access online ticket sales as soon as they become available.

This will be my fifth year attending my daughter's cheerleading competition, and each year ESPN has had QR codes posted outside the venue to scan and purchase tickets online the day of. If the same process is followed, this should be an easy option for securing your tickets once they become available.

Melodie, I hope this information helps as you prepare for your visit to Walt Disney World and ESPN Wide World of Sports to cheer on your athlete. If you have any other questions about The Cheerleading Worlds or ESPN, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly, I’d be more than happy to assist! Thank you again for visiting planDisney. Wishing you an unforgettable experience, and we’ll see ya real soon!
