Going to Epcot 11/14 with DK 6 and 8, we have reservations at Chef Mickey's for 6:45pm that eve, is it reasonable to return for IllumiNations or will that be to much back and forth and wear the kids out on our first full day of Disney vacation?

    Hi Kara,

I do think that Chef Mickey's followed by Illuminations may be a bit exhausting on your first night.  Even if you're seated right at 6:45, you probably won't be done with dinner before 8:00 by the time you've seen all of the characters.  This gives you an hour to get on the monorail at Contemporary, switch monorails at the Transportation and Ticket Center, enter Epcot and find a location around World Showcase.

A more relaxed option might be to head to the Magic Kingdom.  You can ride the monorail, or there's even a walkway that takes about 10 minutes.  Catch the nighttime parade and fireworks, and then, if you feel up to it hang out during extra magic hours.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
