Hiya Kyle,
Welcome to planDisney! Now, I may prefer to be a shore dweller, but I’m married to someone who prefers life under the sea.
EPCOT DiveQuest was high on his wish list, and he finally got to check it off last year. He’s a master diver and has done some fantastic open-water dives in the past; DiveQuest, according to him, was one of the best. He loved the clear views, and being close to the incredible animals was fantastic. I loved that our now two-year-old saw her dada swim around with all the “fishies” for the first time ever.
So, as you noted, in order to participate in DiveQuest, Guests must provide proof of Open Water SCUBA certification for safety reasons. As my husband explained to me, many certifications contain some aspect of open water certification, but not all may be sufficient for what DiveQuest requires. I tried to decipher, based on the information you provided, if your commercial diving certification would be sufficient, but given how many different commercial diving organizations and certifications there are, I don’t want to advise you incorrectly. I spoke to a Cast Member, and they recommended calling
Tours and Recreations to talk to a Cast Member. You can tell them about your specific certification type, and then they can let you know if it would be sufficient to do DiveQuest.
I wish I could give you an exact answer, Kyle, but I want to ensure I can send you off in the right direction. I hope that you get the all clear to reserve DiveQuest for your upcoming trip! It truly is an amazing experience for the divers and those just watching. All of the Guests at
The Seas that day loved watching the divers in the water, even if they didn’t know them, and it was so fun for my little one to say, “That’s my dada” when people saw her waving at him. If you need anything else, please come back and see us.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
