Hi! My entire family (14 total!) is going on the Disney Dream in June 2011. I am a pro at all things Disneyworld, but not the cruise line! Please let me know the best things for 6 and 8 year old girls to do while on the ship and at Castaway Cay. Thanks

Ahoy, Olivia from my beautiful home state of Alabama! I am so incredibly excited for you and your entire crew as you sail aboard the new Disney Dream this summer! She is an incredible ship, and you all are in for memories to last a lifetime.

I, too, became a pro at planning our family's vacations to Walt Disney World (WDW) as well as all those around me -- friends, neighbors, family and even friends of friends! There's so much to see and do that it can be overwhelming for the novice.

Yet, unlike a WDW vacation, a cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line combines the pixie dust and magic which Disney is known for with unprecedented ease and relaxation...even for Mom! Once you have booked your cruise, there are really very few more decisions to make and much, much fun to be had.

Every day of your cruise, your stateroom host/hostess will place a Personal Navigator on your bed...with your towel animal! In that piece will be all you'll need to know to keep everyone entertained and enthused.  For the girls, they will love all the planned (and free play) at the Oceaneer's Club and Oceaneer's Lab on board. Plus, there will be published activities to consider on Castaway Cay, too. I usually peruse the Personal Navigator first circling things of interest, and then, my kids let me know what they would like to do most.

And there is so much to do as a family, too -- pools and water slides, dance parties and karaoke, movies and games, world class entertainment and dining, character experiences and an array of recreation and activities on Castaway Cay.

So sit back and relax knowing that you'll be perfectly informed once you're on the ship. For now, read up by visiting some planning sites such as allears.net or mousesavers.com. You're going to have a blast!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
