Does the entire family have to use fast pass to take pictures in a character spot?

Hi, Deanna! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

My family just loves meeting Disney Characters during our Walt Disney World Resort vacation! During our last visit, we managed to get hundreds of Disney PhotoPass images of Disney Character meet and greets! I am so happy that we opted for Memory Maker as we were able to download ALL of our amazing photos! The Epcot Character Spot is a great place to meet your favorite friends one right after the other! If you are planning to use a FastPass+ Reservation, yes- all members of your party must have the reservation in order to enter the FastPass+ line. I know that sometimes parents think of it as a “wasted” FastPass+ Reservation as they don’t want to be in any of the photos, but I like to encourage everyone to step-in and get that photo taken! Some of my best photos are of me and Minnie striking a pose at the Epcot Character Spot!

If you don’t want to use a FastPass+ Reservation for this meet and greet, might I suggest arriving at Epcot early and heading there straight away? This way you will have a minimal wait time. Alternatively, you could book a Character Meal, such as the Chip ‘N’ Dale Harvest Feast at The Garden Grill, where you get to meet Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto (Character experiences subject to change). We decided to try it during our last vacation and we were truly impressed by the meal and the quality (and length) of the Character experiences!

I hope my answer helps you along with your FastPass+ planning and that you have a magical vacation!
