If I enter the virtual queue at Disneyland for Star Wars can I also make maxpass reservations at the same time? Or does being in the virtual queue negate my ability to make a Fastpass reservation?

    Welcome, Giovanna!

Wise you are to make plans for your visit to Batuu. Successful you will be in your mission to maximize your enjoyment of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and much of the rest of the Disneyland Resort. A good choice you have made to add Disney MaxPass to your theme park ticket.

The Disneyland Resort has designed an ingenious virtual queue system to manage demand for access to the Black Spire Outpost. This virtual queue system, called Boarding Groups, is only implemented when needed. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is often quite active. Though Boarding Groups have not been required for access to the land in recent months. Some activities, especially Oga's Cantina and Savi's Workshop–Handbuilt Lightsabers, are still very popular. Reservations are strongly recommended to experience them. Should Boarding Groups be required for access to the land, reservations for activities will ensure priority access to the land, even without joining a Boarding Group.

The great thing about virtual queue access to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is that joining a Boarding Group will not preclude your ability to make Disney FASTPASS selections. You may continue to choose FASTPASS return times for other Disneyland Resort attractions and select entertainment offerings. This is the same whether you are using complimentary FASTPASS distribution points or you are using Disney MaxPass within the Disneyland app.

Tony’s Tip: When making Disney FASTPASS selections for attractions, making another selection can be done as soon as you redeem that FASTPASS or the amount of time indicated on the FASTPASS has elapsed. With regular FASTPASS, the longest minimum amount of time to wait before making a new FASTPASS selection is 120 minutes. With Disney MaxPass, you will never need to wait more than 90 minutes. So with MaxPass, it may be possible more easily have multiple outstanding FASTPASS return times for attractions. FASTPASS selections for entertainment, such as World of Color and Fantasmic! do not ever preclude making selections for attractions.

When the highly-anticipated attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens at Disneyland Park on January 17, 2020, the Boarding Group virtual queue system may be implemented just for this attraction. Here too, joining a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group will not prevent you from also enjoying access to FASTPASS return times for other Disneyland Resort attractions using Disney MaxPass.

May the Force be with you, Giovanna!
