    How can I ensure that I get a room close to the buses?Last visit was at FQ,we paided for a preferred, I contacted GWD & DR for documen. to let them know my sister has CP& would need a room close to buses. We were told upon arrival there were no clo

    Hi, CarlaLee!  A "preferred" room means something different at every resort.  At a Value Resort, a preferred room puts you closer to the transportation and food court.  At Port Orleans French Quarter (a moderate resort) you probably paid more and actually got what is considered a "better" location for a water view (which at a Moderate Resort means either a lake/river or the swimming pool).   These rooms, while preferred, generally are actually a longer walk to the bus stop, but have a nicer view.   For this reason, I always book a standard room at French Quarter, and request to be close to transportation.  

    When booking, let the reservationist know you need a first floor accessible room as close as possible to transportation.   Explain that for medical reasons (no need to give details about your sister's condition, that is your private information) you need to make it easy to get around.  By telling them up front, this information will be on your reservation when assigning rooms.  If you wait until you get there, it is very possible they simply don't have a room to fit your needs.  To help the process, I would call or fax your resort 5 days prior to your vacation and ask to speak to someone in Room Assignments to make sure you get the best room possible for your sister.

    The more information you can give ahead of time, the better off you will be at check-in.  I hope this all works out and you find a room that fits your family's needs.   Best wishes to you.
