Welcome to planDisney, Karen! Thanks so much for coming to us with your question today. With your trip just around the corner, it's a great idea to think about the finer details, like setting up charging privileges on your
MagicBand. I'm happy to walk you through exactly how it works!
First off, when you enable room charging for someone's MagicBand, a PIN is required to complete a purchase. That's your first layer of protection! So even if someone in your group did try to make a purchase using your linked credit card, they'd need to know the correct PIN. If they don't know it, no purchase goes through. Every person who wants to use their MagicBand to purchase meals using the
Disney Dining Plan will need to assign their own PIN to their account, so you do not need to share your PIN for others in your party to order food using the dining plan.
But if you want to go a step further and disable charging privileges entirely for other guests in your room, while still allowing them to access their dining plan meals, you can do that too. Just stop by the front desk of your
Disney Resort Hotel, and a Cast Member can help customize the settings for each guest in your party. They can remove charging privileges from specific MagicBands, so the dining plan stays active, but shopping charges don't get added to your account.
Another option? If you have other adults in your party who do want to be able to make a purchase but prefer to use their own credit card, you can assign a different credit card to their MagicBand. Again, just ask at the front desk and they'll set it up for you. Everyone stays in control of their own charges, and you don't have to worry about surprise purchases showing up on your folio.
I hope this answers your question, Karen, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
