We are going to enjoy WDW on NYE! We will be in the Magic Kingdom in the morning, enjoy character dining in the late afternoon, and then we are free. We have 2 kids (9, 8) so, do you have any ideas for a fun evening off the beaten track?

    Hi Linnea!

Walt Disney World is a great place to spend New Year's Eve!  My sister and her family spent last New Year's Eve at Epcot and they had a magnificent evening.  As each of the countries along World Showcase ushered in the New Year in their native time zones, the pavilion representing that country hosted its own special celebration.  Many offered special menus in their restaurants that evening too.  That sounds like so much fun!  If you'd like to have a meal in one of the World Showcase table service restaurants on New Year's Eve, be sure to call (407) WDW-DINE to make reservations right away.

Downtown Disney has some fun options for New Year's Eve too.  Your kids are at a good age to enjoy DisneyQuest.  They host a celebration with food, games, and a DJ on New Year's Eve.  If you call (407) W-DISNEY you can save $10 per person if you purchase your tickets to this event in advance.  You could ring in the new year there or you could check out the brand new family-friendly bowling center, Splitsville.  They have the cutest Minnie Mouse bowling balls there.  I can't wait to experience Splitsville myself.

Let us know if you need more ideas, Linnea.  We've got plenty!

    Best wishes,
    Jill
